Professional Mentorship in Motion
Principal Second Violin Emily Garrison sitting in with the Binghamton High School String Orchestra (February 2026)
About the Program:
The Stand Partner Project brings the expertise of the Binghamton Philharmonic Orchestra directly into local schools. Designed for school band and orchestra students, this program places a professional musician within the ensemble during a standard rehearsal period.
Why Participate?
- Professional Modeling: By playing alongside a pro, students "mirror" professional tone and musicality.
- Real-Time Mentorship: Opportunities for immediate assistance with phrasing, posture, and technique.
- Standards-Based Learning: Our curriculum supports NYS Learning Standards for Music, including Performing, Responding, and Connecting.
Logistics at a Glance:
- Grades: All School Band and Orchestra Students.
- Location: Your school’s rehearsal space.
- Duration: One regular rehearsal period.
- Dates/Times: Dates and times are limited, as Philharmonic musicians are only available during some concert weeks. See the registration form for details.
- Cost: $150, reimburseable by BOCES.
