Sophia at the Symphony

A 50-minute, narrated program for grades 3-8, featuring music of
Ludwig van Beethoven, Igor Stravinsky, and Samuel Barber, 
with guest violinist and Apalachin native Sophia Werner.

Originally from Apalachin, NY, Sophia Werner is an accomplished violinist and educator currently pursuing her Master of Music as a Kovner Fellow at The Juilliard School. A winner of the 2024 Juilliard Concerto Competition and frequent soloist, Sophia has performed on world-renowned stages like Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center. Sophia is proud to share her music with students, proving that a journey starting in a small town like Apalachin can lead to the highest levels of artistry.

Performance Dates & Times:

  • February 11, 2027 - arrival 9:30am, performance 10:00-10:50am
  • February 11, 2027 - arrival 11:10am, performance 11:40am-12:30pm*

*The second performance is sensory-friendly, with relaxed house rules, a designated quiet zone, and dim lighting.

Location: 

  • Broome County Forum Theatre, 236 Washington St., Binghamton, NY 13901  

Cost:

  • $5.00 per student, reimburseable by BOCES
  • One free chaperone ticket per ten students.
  • The Binghamton Philharmonic will reimburse schools for bussing costs.
