Justin Bernardi, Trumpet
The Philharmonic is delighted to welcome our newest musicians, trumpeter Justin Bernardi and cellist Joseph Isom!
Justin Bernardi is the Philharmonic's new principal trumpet. He graduated with a Master of Music Degree in 2024 from the Curtis Institute of Music, where he also earned his Bachelor of Music degree. Justin has been a trumpet fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center, a two-year member of the National Repertory Orchestra, and a two-year member of the National Orchestral Institute, and has performed recitals in New York, Philadelphia, and Taiwan. In addition to serving as principal trumpet at the Philharmonic, he is also principal trumpet of the Du Bois Orchestra in Cambridge, Massachusetts. When he's not playing the trumpet, he enjoys baseball, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Cellist Joseph Isom
Joseph Isom hails from Buffalo and has performed with orchestras across the Northeast, including the Buffalo Philharmonic, Syracuse Orchestra, Erie Philharmonic, and Maryland Symphony, under conductors JoAnn Falletta, Marin Alsop, Kurt Masur, Leonard Slatkin, and Gerard Schwarz. His performances have spanned venues such as Kleinhans Music Hall, Carnegie Hall, the DiMenna Center for Classical Music, the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, and Dvořák Hall. Joe is also a founding member of Baltimore’s Symphony Number One, a contemporary orchestra dedicated to performing and promoting substantial works by emerging composers. He is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and the Peabody Conservatory, is a Suzuki-trained cello teacher, and currently teaches in the Binghamton City School District, directing orchestra ensembles at East Middle School.
We wish a warm welcome to Justin and Joe, and look forward to many seasons of great music together!
