(WIVT/WBGH) – The Broome County Arts Council is celebrating a successful effort to raise vital funding for local organizations.

The Arts Council recently announced results of its annual United Cultural Fund campaign which brought in over $274,000, a 6% increase over last year.

In its 37th year, the UCF primarily offers grants to eight large organizations to help them with their operating expenses.

Those recipients are the Binghamton Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bundy Museum, the Discovery Center, EPAC, the Goodwill Theatre, LUMA, Roberson and Tri-Cities Opera.

Plus, 14 individual artists and smaller organizations are getting up to $1,000 each for special projects.

“Really you can see how UCF is encouraging not only growing our large arts organizations but encouraging people to create and contribute to the community,” said BCAC Executive Director Jenny Chang.

Chang says the grants support 1,500 jobs in our local economy.
