The Binghamton Philharmonic and Classical Kids Live are excited to present Beethoven Lives Upstairs. This program features the music of Beethoven as we follow Christoph, a young boy in Vienna, and the “madman” who has moved into the family’s upstairs apartment. The BPO is inviting area schools to these daytime performances and hope to bring 3,000 students to witness the power of live music!

Bring the family to celebrate Beethoven’s 250th Birthday! During this one-day event on Saturday, May 8th, 2021, families can explore the notes of his life and music through several unique activities that blend music with science!

Wet-Lab: Science of Sound Workshop-learn the physics behind sound waves, and how they are processed in our ears and minds.

Activity Lab: Build a musical instrument to take home

Carousel Theater: Ever wonder how Beethoven could make beautiful music while being deaf? Learn about how you use all your senses to listen to music.

Planetarium (+$4): There will be a planetarium show highlighting the astronomical events that occurred during Beethoven’s life.

Timed Ticketing: Three sessions, 11:00 – 12:30, 12:30 – 2:00, 2:00 – 3:30PM.

Planetarium Shows will be available for an additional $4. You can purchase a show ticket at the Admission Desk the day of the event.

In collaboration with Binghamton Philharmonic. Original Event: “In Celebration of Beethoven’s 250th birthday in December 2020. Immersing Broome County in a celebration of Beethoven’s 250th birthday, the Beethoven Project will offer a variety of arts and cultural opportunities from September 2019-December 2020”  We were planning to offer crafts and workshops every Saturday in May 2020. Cancelled due to COVID-19, rescheduled for spring 2021. We’ve altered our program to be a one-day event that will follow the same template as our other public programs.
